Instances of application exist where an industrial plant must be simultaneously protected against excessive pressure and against the vacuum, since both may cause damage. To combine protection against pressure and counterpressure specific burst disks are employed, which fall under the heading of “double-way”.
DonadonSDD’s Bi-directional rupture discs can manage both pressure and counterpressure; they have a composite structure, with two separate metal discs (which may be calibrated at different levels) and an internal PTFE membrane. Installation procedure is remarkably simplified, since they can be installed directly between the plant’s flanges.
